The Black Hole

I fell into the hole again today.

It’s not the first time,

and it wasn’t the worst time.

It wasn’t the last time

I’ll be thinking of past times.

You always rubbed me the wrong way

figuratively.

Never thought you’d rub me the wrong way

literally.

Sometimes, when I swim

I curl up into a ball

Hold my breath

and let myself fall.

The pool tile presses gently against my skin

as I hold all of my air in.

This is where I am free of you,

because I am in a different world.

No one thought to stop nature’s course,

as they watched your tail tighten and curl.

You were just an average snake,

who was killing an average girl.
