Take Good Care

I feel like I rarely get to be completely alone. I have a fairly big family which means that there is almost always someone around my house. So, I went out on a little walk by myself yesterday. Contrary to what you may think, I wasn’t taking this walk to contemplate life or anything like that. Instead, I wanted to not think and just exist for a little bit.

I’m a pretty intense person, so I do a lot of critical thinking….all the time. This can be very tiring and, honestly, a little bit annoying. That’s why I decided that I needed to get out of the house – there was too much going on in my head. It was probably about an hour long walk and it allowed me the peace that I needed to come home and continue working hard.

I believe that even though thoughtfulness is a virtue, everyone just needs to stop and clear their mind sometimes. I’ve mentioned this in a previous post, but when you get in your head too much, you stop being productive. You begin to second-guess everything you do and your work loses its quality. There are thousands of cures for this, but for me it’s nature.

I love seeing the different types of birds, trees, flowers, fish, turtles, frogs and whatever else I lay my eyes on. It reminds me that there is a whole world going on outside of my own problems. There are father bass worried about defending their nest while their female is out hunting. There are baby turtles who have to be extremely paranoid in order to survive. And there are frogs sitting just under the water’s surface, watching you as you walk by.

Maybe this isn’t the right method for everyone, but for me, that’s how I relax. Working hard to get where you want to be also includes taking care of yourself. You want to make sure that you are healthy and able to complete the goals that you’ve set for yourself. I know that when I’ve been sitting in front of the T.V. or computer all day, I end up with a headache and a horrible attitude. That’s why I had to remove myself from the project at hand, take a mental break, and return to it with more motivation and a better mind set.

Remember a couple of posts ago when I mentioned that I had an exciting video for you to see? Well, it’s finally ready! I go fishing with my boyfriend a couple of times a week, it’s a good way for us both to unwind. He’s getting pretty good at editing the videos and in this one, I catch large female bass.
